FOUNDING PRINCIPLE & MISSION STATEMENT
FOUNDING PRINCIPLE: MNPARA-SCI holds to the idea that observable phenomena can be defined and explained using scientific principles. Whether these principles already exist in the current scientific knowledge base; or will be established in the future as science continues to expand its understanding.
MISSION STATEMENT: MNPARA-SCI is a not for profit project whose overall goal is to explore targeted areas of science, philosophy, mass media, social media, open source news and traditional sourced world news; that may impact the de-mysticize the understanding of presently unexplainable phenomena. This is also the official peer review and information clearing house, for raudive phenomena research that MNPARA-SCI is currently involved with.
PRIMARY DEFINITIONS
Paranormal Studies or Pseudo Science: Wikipedia, and many online locations, define such as experiences that lie outside “the range of normal experience or scientific explanation” or “phenomena understood to be outside of science’s current ability to explain or measure.” Current examples of this would electronic voice phenomena, ghosts & hauntings, out-of-body experiences, near death experiences, psychic abilities, remote viewing, reported ufo & alien encounters, and cryptid creature encounters. Paranormal studies in general are labeled as a Pseudo-Science by the main stream scientific community. This is partially due to an observed lack of experiment replication, hypothesis & theory test-ability, adherence to standardized experiment protocols, and not having an accepted peer review process. Paranormal studies also tends to have a spiritual or religious spin applied to it; which further distances the paranormal field from the established scientific community.
Science: Wikipedia defines such as coming from the latin term “scientia” which means “knowledge”; and is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and prediction. In an older and closely related translation from Aristotle; “science” refers to the body of reliable knowledge that can be logically and rationally explained. Today “science” has many branches of study including physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, medicine, and mathematics. Main stream science adheres to a protocol driven system that requires the development of theories and hypothesis, testing and replication of experiments, and an accepted peer review process.
Para-Science: Looking for a suitable definition that bridges the gap between the paranormal and science; I have adopted the following definition: “Para-Science is the body of knowledge that exists outside the range of existing and established scientific explanations. That however has plausibility, based in current advanced ideas in theoretical science and quantum physics; that will be testable & predictable through eventual advances in those areas of science.”
SUPPLEMENTAL DEFINITIONS
Theoretical Physics Wikipedia defines such as a branch of physics which employs mathematical models and abstractions of physics to rationalize, explain and predict natural phenomena. This is in contrast to experimental physics, which uses experimental tools to probe these phenomena. The advancement of science depends in general on the interplay between experimental studies and theory. In some cases, theoretical physics adheres to standards of mathematical rigor while giving little weight to experiments and observations.
Quantum Mechanics-Physics Wikipedia defines such as a branch of physics which employs a body of scientific principles that explains the behaviour of matter and its interactions with energy on the scale of atoms and subatomic particles and how these phenomena could be related to everyday life.
